PHOTOOOOS
ogays here are some photos from camp. Was clearing my computer today and saw all these nice photos that went unshared; -pity. So i've decided to add them here. And please don't forget the post following this picture (and VIDEO!!) post.
First up. My bed buddy Rishi. Happening fella. Too bad we got him piss drunk at Zouk this week for his 22nd. Drunk to the extent that he was sleeping on the road. zzz. And the fcuker slapped me while drunk. Haha. Happy birthday asshole.

Junior theory term. Damn boring classes. Here's an examplary photo of what Officer Cadets are like during class. (L-R: Hafiz with shirt unbuttoned listening to mp3, Fairus getting an explanation from Rishi, which will NEVER happen cause it's always the other way around, yours truly looking attentive with Din asking one of his silly questions once again. Yup.

And THIS is what actually goes on underneath the desks. Put together bored officer cadets, a packet of gummy bears (originally intended as a snack to keep us awake) and a piece of paper and what do you get? Football.

And here's a video during one of our exercises. (Ex. Highrise). Fire in HDB flat, on 3 floors, starting on the 8th floor and lifts aren't working. How nice. Welcome to the life of an SCDF officer.

Yours truly trying to look macho.

Presenting the crew of Three-Six Basic Officers' Course, after our overnight exercise (Ex. Mole). As the name suggests, we dug. And dug throughout the night.

Posing for a shot. Looking stupid. Looking tired. NB: Note the 1 stripe, that was during the practice for Ex Mole. Previous picture I was wayyyy dirtier.

The big red truck with the tall ladder on it, a.k.a. CPL (combined platform ladder). Capable of reaching about 14 - 15 storeys, this baby is scary. And only those above 18 can operate this machine. NO KIDDING! It's stated on the vehicle.

HELLO.
Hello people. It's been 5 months since i've typed anything on this dusty blog of mine. Apologies for that. Anyway it has been rather uneventful, cause BOC (scdf's ocs) has occupied pretty much most of my life. Well what can i do, for these 2 years i am government property.
Now that i'm nearing my commissioning date, the weeks have been more busy than usual with the final exercises and all that mumbo jumbo. Getting a taste of what life in the workforce is like, with asses who skive work behind the boss' back and work hard in front of them. Ugh. Utterly appaling. I thought some people were bad, but compared to this friend of mine, they shine like brilliant beacons of success in the puss-filled mire of his seemingly limitless inadequacies. He CAN be a good friend, but when it comes to work, I hate his guts to the max. Well I guess i'll just have to look at it positively and see what I can learn from him. ZZZ.
Had my fire station attachment first week of August too. Was attached to Alexander Fire Station. Well it was quite fun. Turned-out to 2 incidents, but no fire. Sad. I guess that'll be the only time I'll be in the fire station. Cannot wait to POP. Thailand here I come. Man need to do Christmas shopping already.
I miss everyone. Especially Pan who's been so kind in tolerating my also seemingly limitless inadequacies when it comes to letter writing. Sorry Pan dearest. I have written you your long awaited letter but I sent it to UK so it'll be sometime before you get to see it cause I understand that you're back in Kuching for the summer hols. Also to Prav and Pau. Whoops. I think I owe them a meal. And to everyone else. Whom I have not spoken to in a long long time. High school friends, college buddies, church friends, ex-colleagues, BMT mates etc. Too many to mention, they deserve much loving. And to those I have hurt. Don't think they'll ever forgive me but I just want to say that I am truly sorry and that I deserve it. I understand if you feel that I am an unworthy person. Yuppers.
Just trying to recall whatever that's happened over the past 5 months. And life has been kind to me.

back!
back from Outward Bound (Singapore/Brunei). Was really fun. Had a sailing and hiking expedition, in Singapore and Brunei respectively. Tiring. Bathed in sea water. Had my first shit in the open sea. Went crazy by carrying the Katadyn (aka Captain Din, the water filter).
Now having a 3 days off in-lieu. Much of it is spent resting. Don't know what else to do. Bought my first bottle of wine at the airport. Can't help it, having this sudden interest in wine. (hey i'm too young!) Will upload photos soon. Took about 250+ photos. Don't know where to host it. :(

here's a photo of my tekan buddy bryan and myself during 35th BOC's dining in at raffles town club on the eve of v-day. it was, in many ways, a memorable day for me. (ps - i just hate the color combination)

goodbye!
Fun thought for the day...
Don't you guys think that Saruman from The Lord Of The Rings looks EXACTLY like Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the founder of hardline terrorist organisation HAMAS, which recently just won the elections and is now an official governing body, (And obviously I don't recognise it), which is JUST WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW!! ?

Anyway who cares about them dipshits. More importantly, I will leaving for Outward-Bound Singapore and Brunei over the next 2 weeks and thus, will be out of contact during the duration of my course.
Now that my seniors have graduated, it's time my batch gets fcked the shit out of us. Like really, the other day, we got it hard from our course administrator. Well I can't blame him I guess, there are many fckers in my course and they're just making life difficult for us. Our discipline has gone down the drain and I think it's time for a review. I guess it's alright actually as time really flies. I've already completed a third of this 9-month course, and soon, it'll be me marching in that No. 1 uniform and getting my fire axe. I've gotten numb to the tekaning sessions that we are 'subjected' to, and I seem to find it easy to cope with the punishments that are metted out by our captain. Well I guess it's easy to do so when you have a buddy who laughs and jokes with you in the midsts of getting fcked hard, for which I am appreciative.
Sadly, 2 of our guys have OOC-ed (out of course) just a few days back, and now the total strength of 36th BOC has gone down to 26. My dear friend chose to exempt himself from the course, for reasons which he would not reveal, but I must say that he would be dearly missed. No more singing Love Me by Collin Ray and no more teaching him Malay. Another one got into an accident shortly thereafter and was warded into the A&E at CGH, which made him unable to continue the course until he recovered. Well, I wish the both of them the best of luck in whatever they do and that it's been good knowing them. 36th BOC would never be the same.
I'll end off here. I have alot of packing to do. Goodbye and goodnight.

Recognise the pose? Yep, that's me and (part of) the gang..

As you can see, this building is called the 'furnace'. Well actually it's just an alias for it's actual name, which is the 'T.O.D.', or 'Tower Of Death' (coined by me actually.) 11 floors of hell, and we climb up and down that thing wearing the suits with our 13kg breathing masks/air tanks.

Me and Fadhli at the co.ol-down shower point after the heat & humidity test, during which, we wear our suits with the air sets, and we run 700m in the sun, climb 11 floors, do some PT, climb 11 floors down, and then into the sauna which is set at 120 deg Farenheit. How sweet.

The section during the Heat and Humidity test. Before, all happy faces. After, you don't want to know.

BOC = Bunch of clowns. Enough said.

Hey stranger. UPDATED! 10 feb
Wow what a year 2005 has been for me; - a year filled with myriad experiences, good & bad, couple of bad decisions in which hearts were broken, and couple of good ones too. Well I guess on the macro level it's been quite a ride. Learnt alot about myself, sides of me which I didn't knew existed, and I guess there's still a long way on the road to self-discovery.
Now I do not know where to begin. Ok let's try to pick up from where I left off last year.
After POP-ing and my 2-week block leave, I've been transferred to the Civil Defence Academy to be an officer there. Those of you who know me well enough should know that ever since I knew what NS is all about, I have never ever wanted to go to CD, and so you could just imagine how upset I was when I saw my posting 2 weeks after POP. The irony was that the night before I got my posting, my biological dad asked me what were the chances of recruits who have just graduated from BMT being sent to the Civil Defence, and my reply was "Very very small. It's unlikely that I'll be sent there." Wow, what are the chances huh.
Well the truth was that after seeing the place for myself, I was rather happy that I got sent there instead of OCS, as I'd be learning skills that would be useful during peacetime. So anyway, training is TOUGH. Well, obviously if you wanna be an officer. Will elaborate in another post cause I am short of time.
Right now I shall end it off here. As I've said above, I'm short of time cause I have to book in. Will post the pictures soon.
Hatta
Hello hello I'm back. This week has been rather relaxed cause we've been rehearsing for the seniors' graduating parade, and we've been doing nothing but foot drills for the whole week, and there'll be many more to come next week.
The week after next, I'll be off to Outward Bound Singapore and Brunei Darulsallam (sp?), which I would be looking forward to. Time really flies man, now, already a QUARTER of my 9 months here is GONE. 27 more weeks to go to POP!
Somehow, the finance department has screwed up again and I won't be getting my allowance till the 28th of Feb, which would be 16 days late of pay-day. ZZZ. And worse, book-in timing has been changed to TEN PM!! When previously it was ELEVEN! Sucks. My batch seems to be the suay one. Why?
Let's see:
1st BOC batch to have GUARD DUTY.
1st BOC batch to have the firefighting skills on the first term of the 9 month course.
1st BOC batch to have the DIRECTOR of the CD Academy follow them on the OBS trip.
1st BOC batch to book in by TEN PM.
Well, enough already. Now I've gotten my mess-kit (No. 2) which is basically a tuxedo which us officers have to wear when we dine-in. And best of all, this dining-in of ours would be on Valentine's Day. How nice. I have a date with the Commissioner of the SCDF.
HOW TO POST ON BLOGGER!?!?!?! ANYONE KNOW THE HTML CODE!?!?!??!! THIS IS SO ANNOYING!

POP
well it's been 3 days since i've POPed (Passed-Out Parade) and I'm still resting to recover. Head's been spinning I don't know why and I'm still having this stupid tekong cough.. Nothing much has been going on as usual, had a talk with many of my college buddies and realised (again) how much I miss them.
Honestly I don't know what else to say. This layout of mine still sucks so I am looking for a new one.
Guess that'll be it for now.
